This website presents services and activities supplied by Libertus, the largest voluntary sector Day Care Centre in the South Edinburgh area.
All members at Libertus are able to access advice and help with the following issues:
- Benefits, i.e. Pensions, Unemployment, Disability Allowances, etc.
- Personal financial matters
- Housing matters such as repairs, rent, Housing benefits
- Assistance with utilities such as Scottish Power, British Gas, Community Charge
- Home Help payments
- Savings and budgeting
- Medical appointments and visits
- Shopping
- Assistance with transport for banking, appointments, funerals, Hospital visits and to visit hospitals to visit friends, relatives, etc.
- Assistance with social activities such as parties
- Assistance with leisure activities such as bowling, tournaments, etc.
- Repairs to mobility aids
Libertus supports people of all ages from the areas of Gilmerton, Burdiehouse, Southhouse, Inch, Liberton, Hyvots and Gracemount who experience physical or learning disabilities or age related infirmity.
Libertus offers a service for older people, frail elderly and people with dementia in the South East area. Groups meet at Libertus on their allocated day every week.
Libertus promotes a person centred approach to delivering services with users being offered transport, lunch, assistance with personal care and a wide range of activities that are designed to meet the individual’s needs.
Libertus manages and co-ordinates four small community groups within the South Edinburgh area. These groups are well established and run by independent Management Committees.
Libertus actively supports the carers of the users by giving valuable respite while the users attend Libertus. They also are able to help carers with advice and information. They are at present working closely with the South Edinburgh Carers forum to enable them to develop new services for carers.
