Lothiansound is a registered Scottish charity, founded in 1988 and run entirely by volunteers, and funded by donations.
Supplied free of charge – for listeners who are registered blind or partially sighted, even the postage is free, thanks to the Post Office “Articles for the Blind” arrangement.

Lothiansound produces:
- a weekly audio digest of news and events, read mainly from the Edinburgh Evening News.
- Lothiansound sends memory sticks/USB sticks to listeners all over the UK.
