The Charter of Patient Rights and Responsibilities sets out a summary of what you can expect when you use NHS services and receive NHS care in Scotland.
The Charter, which is in 3 parts, provides an explanation of your rights and responsibilities and also what the NHS expects from you.
Part 1 of the Charter is set out under six headings covering Access, Communication and participation, Confidentiality, Respect, Safety and Feedback and complaints.
Part 2 explains what to do if you feel your rights have not been respected.
Part 3 tells you how you can find out more and gives details of information, help and advice that is available.
