Aims and objectives:
Supports children who suffer from drug resistant epilepsy.
They do this by following their objectives:
- The promotion and protection of good health for children and young aduts with difficult to control epilepsy accompanied by developmental delay.
- To advance education of the public by the provision of a website offering support and assistance to parents of children with epilepsy.
- To relieve such children by the provision of equipment with the object of improving their conditions of life.
Services provided:
- They have funded 20 Daisy Garland Ketogenic Dietitians who work within NHS hospitals throughout the UK, with more planned to follow.
- They provide grants for night-time breathing monitors (SATs/Epilepsy Monitors) for use in the home.
- They provide various small one-off grants for specialist equipmement.
- They supply Daisy Garland Ketogenic Handbooks to dieticians, schools, hospitals and parents/carers of children with epilepsy.
- They provide a 24 hour charity phone-line.
- They provide e-mail and Facebook support for parents as well as a parent support forum for families of children with epilepsy.
- They provide complimentary Keto Welcome Boxes for each family starting the Ketogenic Diet in the UK.
