Aims:
To alleviate poverty and promote social inclusion by encouraging the take up of benefits, maximising incomes and addressing problematic personal debt.
Services provided:
The Advice Shop staff, the Welfare Rights Service and the Money Advice Team offer free confidential and impartial help and advice on a range of problems:
- tax and pension credit
- disability and carers benefits
- housing benefit and Council Tax benefit
- out of work benefits
- advice from Macmillan on benefits and grants for family, carers and people affected by cancer and some other long-term health conditions.
- money and debt problems
- offer access to the Debt Arrangement Scheme
- rent and mortgage arrears and eviction or repossession
- appeals.
