Befriending, handyperson services, as well as leisure and learning activities

Services provided:

They currently work across nine geographical areas in South Lanarkshire.

LEAP operate three specific services for the over 50’s, each with their own great benefits.

The Hands on Project offers two services for people over the age of 50 who are experiencing difficulties due to their physical or mental health condition and living in the Cambuslang, Rutherglen, East Kilbride, Strathaven, Stonehouse (HOP) Hamilton, Uddingston, Blantyre and Bothwell (HUBB).

The befriending service can help people become more active in their community by offering short or long term befriending matches depending on the circumstances and need.  

The handyperson service consists of volunteers who can assist older people by carrying out a range of small repair jobs to help them to remain safe in their home. Jobs can include:-

  • Changing lightbulbs
  • Changing curtains
  • Fitting curtain poles, rails etc
  • Flat packed furniture
  • Turning matresses
  • Cleaning inside windows and cupboards
  • Installing door bells

Some areas have leisure and learning activities
