Services provided:

The Independent Living Fund Scotland administers funding for disabled people in Scotland and Northern Ireland to enable them to live independently in their communities giving them choice, control and dignity.

The Independent Living Fund re-opened to new applications in Scotland in April 2024.

To be eligible, you must be:

  • disabled
  • living in Scotland
  • aged 16 years and over
  • getting Self-Directed Support of at least £800 per week from a social care support package or Self-Directed Support – this does not include any benefits, like Housing Benefit
  • or are getting a net weekly SDS budget of less than £800 but you have an unpaid carer living in the same home with you who provides a significant amount of unpaid care and who is eligible for a Carers Support Plan. This is aimed at applicants who, were it not for the amount of unpaid care received, would meet the £800 Threshold Sum. This is known as the Carer Component.

They also provide the Transition Fund, a grant of up to £4,000 for disabled young people aged 16 to 25 in Scotland so they can #TrySomethingNew.
