P R T Fife Carers Centre

Supporting Unpaid Carers across Fife

Services provided:

Fife Carers Centre aims to be a “one stop shop” for every carer in Fife – if you are a carer they can help you with:

General Information – lots of information about everything from your entitlement to benefits, why it’s so important to have Power of Attorney to information about the condition affecting the person you care for.

Information About Benefits and Entitlement – They help with getting the right ones for you and the person you care for as well as looking for grants that might be available for helping support your caring role.

Workshops and Information Sessions – They run free to attend information sessions throughout the year to help carers learn more about the condition affecting the person they care for or some other aspect of their role of carer.

Carers Assessment – They help you complete a Carers Assessment to identify the ways your caring role has impacted on your life and what you would like to do to about it – then they’ll continue to work alongside you helping you to achieve your goals.

Centre Drop In – During  Centre  opening hours carers can drop in for information and a chat.

Emotional Support – One of the most valued services they provide is that of giving carers the chance to talk openly and honestly about how you feel about their caring role and the  things you are finding difficult – they listen to anything you have to say without  judgement.

Peer Support – Being with other carers often means you don’t have to explain how things are for you, you can talk openly and you can hear how others have dealt with similar situations.  In addition you can have some social contact and relax amongst friends.

Short Breaks – The Short Breaks Fund provides grants to third sector organisations that support unpaid carers to take a break from their caring role. We can provide information and guidance for applying to the fund.
