The Home Energy Efficiency Programmes for Scotland could help householders save money on heating, lighting and the other things that use energy. You might even get insulation that makes your energy go further or maybe even a whole new heating system.
Everybody can take steps to keep down the cost of heating their home. There is a local advisor who knows what’s on offer and can advise on more about it.
What an individual could get depends on circumstances – most people should be able to access some assistance. They are particularly keen to hear from people if they are either:
- 60 or over
- currently receiving benefits
- pregnant
- have a child under 16.
- in receipt of Carer’s Allowance
- receive the highest rate of the care component or the higher rate of the mobility component of disability living allowance, or war pensions equivalents, or the enhanced rate of the daily living component or enhanced rate of mobility component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP), or Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)
- are terminally ill (in receipt of DS1500 certificate)
The Scottish Government wants to make sure that everyone in Scotland who needs help with their energy costs saves money. So anyone who is struggling when the fuel bills need paid, are exactly the kind of person this scheme is for.
