DPHS & SDS Options Fife

The Disabled Persons Housing Service is a small charity split into two teams. One dealing with Housing and another for Self-Directed Support. The housing team is dedicated to providing information and advice around housing issues for homeowners, Private tenants, and social tenants across Fife. We help applicants through the process of applying to Fife Housing Register and ensuring their application is as strong as possible, conversing with the council on our applicants’ behalf when required. The SDS Options Fife element of our organisation assists people who need help from another person for their personal care needs and support to keep or maintain their independence for as long as they can. We assist people to accessing the Self-Directed Support grant process which will pay for the care they need. Fife Social Work Department assess individuals and we help you to understand what you can ask for, what your rights are and how to explore what option is right for your situation. There are 4 options people can choose from which includes employing your own personal assistant, choosing an agency or asking Fife Council to take on all the decisions and put care in place for you. The fourth option allows a mixture of these. We help people put together an advert, advertise, assist with HR and contracts as well as connect them with local resources to enhance their support network. Taking people step by step through the process of SDS and advocating for their rights, beliefs or perspective allows people to have their say in the most challenging of times. We are here to help.
