Independent grant making organisation. Grants are made to organisations in coalfield areas.
The FEI helps in former coalfield areas with particularly high rates of unemployment, where teams of Community Advisers target disavantaged people of working age who want help to get into work. They focus on finding work, and where necessary training, in the locality wherever possible.
