Aims:

Age Scotland, as Scotland’s national charity supporting people over the age of 50, Age Scotland works to improve people’s lives and promote their rights and interests. We aim to help people love later life, whatever their circumstances. We want Scotland to be the best place in the world to grow older.

Age Scotland local groups are independent organisations which provide a wide range of community services including:

The Helpline for older people which can be contacted on 0800 12 44 222 . Open Monday – Friday, from 09:00-17:00. Information and advice that the Helpline can provide includes;
• Information on benefits
• Money management
• Consumer advice
• Legal issues
• Retirement choices
• Housing
• Energy
• Power of Attorney
• Social Care
• Discrimination and welfare rights
• Community Connecting service linking older adults with groups, classes, lunch clubs and activity in their local areas

Age Scotland also provides;
• Insurance services
• An extensive publications list including factsheets
• Advice to government and other bodies on policy and legislation affecting older people
• Campaigning on behalf of older people
• Information on self-directed support
• Information and advice on a wide range of subjects to do with older people
