Services provided:

The national minimum wage is aimed at providing employees with decent minimum standards and fairness in the workplace.
It applies to nearly all workers and sets hourly rates below which pay must not be allowed to fall. It helps business by ensuring companies will be able to compete on the basis of quality of the goods and services they provide and not on low prices based predominantly on low rates of pay. The rates set are based on the recommendations of the independent Low Pay Commission.

For help or advice, the National Minimum Wage Helpline (NMW) helpline accepts calls and enquiries from employees, employers and any other interested parties such as independent advisors.

Callers can be assisted in thirty different languages.

For help and advice for workers and employers on rights and obligations at work call the Acas helpline on 0300 123 1100.

Opening hours:

Monday to Friday 8.00am to 8.00pm, and Saturday from 9.00am – 1.00pm. (all calls are taken in strict confidence).
