5.1 Things to avoid in Tables

  • Nested tables can make it difficult for screen-reading software to follow.(Nested tables are tables within another table)
  • Tables with merged and/or split cells can make it more difficult for screen-reading software to follow logically. You can test the layout by scrolling through the table using the Tab key.
  • Blank rows or columns. Screen-reading software users may identify blank rows or columns as the end of the table.
