Extra Info: The first electric hearing aid

The first electric hearing aid was invented way back in 1898!
Miller Reece Hutchinson, an inventor known for inventing the electric car horn, used the technology recently developed for the invention of the telephone to produce a device which could convert incoming sound into electrical signals and then amplify these signals before sending them to a connected earpiece.
He would call his invention the Akouphone
Although being bulky, expensive and only being useful to people with mild hearing loss the akouphone was hailed as a success and Reece Hutchison would go on to develop his hearing aids further including a device called the Akou-Massage which converted audio into vibrations for people with profound hearing loss.
