Mobility Trust

Provide powered wheelchairs and scooters for severely disabled children and adults who cannot obtain them through statutory sources or purchase such equipment themselves

Aims:

The Mobility Trust aims to reach and help disabled people who have nowhere else to turn – those whose disability falls outside the remit of major disability charities, or their mobility has been curtailed by conditions common to elderly people, like a stroke or severe arthritis.

Applications:

The trust is open to applications from disabled people in desperate need of a powered wheelchair or scooter who cannot obtain one through statutory sources or afford to purchase such equipment themselves.

Applicants should write to the trust explaining why they need the equipment, giving details of their disabilities and the cause of them.

The trust reviews and funds each applicant individually, after they have had an assessment by a specialist healthcare professional, usually a physiotherapist or occupational therapist. An important factor of this assessment is for the beneficiary to have a trial in a powered wheelchair or scooter around their home environment.
