Maggie’s Edinburgh is located at Western General Hospital in Edinburgh.
Maggie’s is first and foremost a homely, relaxing place to be. It is there for anybody who feels the need for help, which includes those who love and look after someone with cancer, who often feel as frightened and vulnerable as those who actually have the disease.
A Cancer Support Specialist is available to speak to at Maggie’s. A referral is not needed and anyone affected by cancer is welcome. So people can call in when it’s convenient for them. Maggie’s Centre is a charitably funded organisation and all services are free.
Advisors can help with information, benefits advice, psychological support both individually and in groups, courses and stress reducing strategies. You don’t have to make an appointment, or be referred.
The Centre is open all day Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and some evenings, so people are welcome to drop in at any time if they want to have a cup of tea and a chat, or to learn more about cancer, or if they just want a quiet somewhere to sit down.
There are Maggie Centres located throughout the UK and some abroad.
