Support service for disabled adults, older people and those with long term health conditions in Edinburgh and the Lothians.

The main aims of the Lothian Centre for Inclusive Living are:

  • Provide a range of services to support Independent Living, developed and managed by and for disabled people.
  • Support the right for disabled people to live independently and take control of their own lives.
  • Provide the opportunity for disabled people to further their own personal and professional development, including through peer support.
  • Challenge the attitudes and the physical and social barriers that create disability.
  • Incorporate the social model of disability in all the work we do, and the values of the independent living movement.

 

Independent Living Service (ILS)Ā 

  • provides advice, information and support on all aspects of self-directed support
  • support with PA recruitment
  • support with Direct Payments

Disability Advice and Information Services (DAIS)Ā 

  • provides welfare benefits advice and support with a focus on disability-related benefits and information.
  • Ā Undertake full benefit checks to assess an individual’s eligibility, provide full support with completing benefit applications and any follow-up support an individual requires.
  • Ā Support disabled people to maximise their household income as much as possible.
  • Provide information resources about benefits and other disability-related topics.

Peer Support and Learning Service (PSL)Ā 

  • offers peer support groups and information sessions focused on social care (Self-directed Support) to Disabled People, Carers and those with long-term health conditions
  • Our peer support groups provide a safe space to connect with others through shared experiences with the aim to strengthen knowledge, skills and confidence in all aspects of Self-Directed Support (SDS) and available social care options.
  • The sessions are welcoming, relaxed and informal. We focus on bringing people together to discuss the aspects of SDS that matter to them. We encourage mutual understanding and acceptance through the sharing of lived experiences.

Payroll ServiceĀ 

  • LCiL provide an excellent payroll service and wages administration for disabled people who employ their own Personal Assistants (PAs).
  • If you are a disabled person employing your own Personal Assistants (PAs) we can help you with the processing of their wages and related administration such as dealing with PA timesheets, tax, national insurance and other related administration
