Glasgow Access Panel (GAP)

Address access issues for disabled people in Glasgow

Aims:

To improve the accessibility of services, facilities and buildings across Glasgow for all disabled people.

Services provided:

The Glasgow Access Panel promotes access in three ways:-

  • Through working with Glasgow City Council, the Health Board, and with transport providers to ensure that major service providers consider good access from the beginning of developing or improving one of their buildings or services
  • Through helping individual disabled people to tackle specific access issues that they face. GAP’s approach is an enabling one – ideally they help the individual disabled person to take the issue up with the relevant organisation. At the same time they will take on greater responsibility if requested.
  • Through raising awareness and changing attitudes in the public at large about the need for inclusive access
  • Can also carry out access audits.

membership costs:

There are no costs for membership. Membership is available to organisations of disabled people in Glasgow, individual disabled people with a special knowledge and interest in access issues, living in Glasgow.
