To provide twenty 24 hour crisis services to people who have used, or are using mental health services and their carers, aged eighteen and over.
The Crisis Centre is accessible 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year and provides community based, emotional and practical support to people over eighteen who are using or have used mental health services in Edinburgh and their carers when they are facing a crisis.
The Centre provides a free phone telephone help line as well as face-to-face support and contains a range of information.
The Access line is a confidential free phone service. The overall aim of the phone service is to listen non judgmentally to callers experience and to work with them to reduce the feelings of distress they are experiencing, to identify any support in place, or required, to agree a short-term crisis plan and to support carers with help and advice.
Access to the Crisis Centre at all times, must be arranged with Crisis Centre staff by telephone via the free phone number. Carers can contact the Access line to discuss any concerns and to receive support particularly when they are helping a relative or friend to the Crisis Centre.
