Volunteers providing companionship for elderly isolated people

Aims:

To relieve the loneliness of isolated older people (over the age of seventy) who are living alone with little support.

Services provided:

  • Local groups of volunteers organise monthly group outings for elderly isolated people in their area, to visit a hosts home for afternoon tea
  • Volunteering opportunities for drivers, helpers, hosts and hostesses, area co-ordinators
  • A service on a Sunday when other services are not available, often identified as the loneliest day of the week.
