The 1998 Data Protection Act is having far-reaching implications for voluntary organisations which hold personal data on computer or on paper. The third edition of this practical guide has been revised and updated following the implementation of the Act to include more examples, example policies and statements, and decision-making flow charts, as well as authoritative answers to key questions, and a comprehensive index. It incorporates changes to Data Protection law since the last edition. The book now contains material on freedom of information and how it relates to charities, particularly with respect to campaigning. It also explores how the Freedom of Information Act might impact on charities’ contracts with statutory authorities.
