Hughes syndrome is a blood clotting disorder which can potentially cause strokes, DVTs, heart attacks and blood clots in the lung (pulmonary embolism). In pregnancy, it is a leading cause of miscarriage and pre-eclampsia.
The HSF’s mission is to save and improve the lives of patients with Hughes syndrome by achieving earlier diagnosis and the best possible treatment. They do this by:
- informing doctors, nurses and GPs about how to look for, test and treat Hughes syndrome
- raising awareness in the media and general public about the condition
- offering support and understanding to anyone affected by the illness
- raising funds to provide support, education and research
- online forum.
