Carers Befriending Service

Befriending service for carers in Edinburgh

Services provided:

The Eric Liddell befriending programme supports unpaid carers across Edinburgh, by providing them with a trained volunteer befriender. This service gives carers an opportunity to have a break from their caring responsibilities. It is a free, supportive and informal service, open to all carers living in Edinburgh.

A befriender is a volunteer who provides reliable one-to-one social contact to unpaid carers, to help support and relieve the stresses of day-to-day life. Befriending helps carers feel less isolated by bringing companionship, a listening ear and by helping the discovery of new interests, offering them an opportunity to relax and enjoy themselves.

We also have a drop-in befriending gathering the second Monday of every month from 1.30-3pm which carers are welcome to join.
