Community Jobs Scotland

Creating jobs in Scotland's third sector for unemployed vulnerable young people

Community Jobs Scotland (CJS) is delivered on behalf of the Scottish Government by the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO).

Funding is available to pay for young people, 16 - 24 years of age to be employed for a 26 or 39 week period with a Scottish third sector organisation.  An additional CJS training fund is also available to each CJS employee.

CJS to an employer is:

  • providing at least 25 hours work per week to a young person
  • paying the national minimum wage or higher
  • creating an additional position to any existing contracted staff requirements.

The right sector:

Job roles have been created in housing, social care, environment / recycling, advocacy / advice, finance / admin, retail and warehousing.  There is nor right or wrong sector.  CJS welcomes all.

CJS to a job seeker is:

Helping young people gain current work experience and skills.  It also benefits the wider community by increasing the capacity of third sector organisations.
