Bookdonors

A social enterprise trading in used books to help people, charities and our environment

Description of service:

Bookdonors is a social enterprise trading in used books to help people, charities and our environment.

Bookdonors books come primarily from High Street charity shops across Scotland and the UK who use the money they receive from them to fulfil their charitable aims. They also get their books from voluntary organisations who use the money received from Bookdonors to aid their fund raising actions.

Bookdonors also get books from Libraries both public and academic across the UK.

Finally, they get their books from the general public. Although they do only accept large volume of books, the general public are very generous in donating books to them in order to allow them to continue their good work.

Bookdonors deal in a large variety of books and all genres, from block buster paperbacks to academic books.  They also have a large number of pre 1970’s books and older antiquarian books.

They have a team comprising of paid staff, volunteers, home-based staff members and people on training placements from several organisations.

The organisation is committed to staff training and development.  Where possible, members of the team are trained in a number of different tasks. All their experienced staff members can provide training to a new member of the team and are also there to advise and support all other members of the team.
