Seeing Ear

Online library for blind and print-disabled people

Services provided:

Seeing Ear is a charity dedicated to helping people who want to read but who cannot use ordinary books. It may be that the print is too small, or turning pages is too difficult – whatever the reason, they can help!

Their main activity is the transcription of a variety of fiction and non-fiction books into an electronic format that is accessible. They then make the transcription available for download from an online database.

Their online library is used by over 1600 schools and they have built up a high level of experience in transcribing complex textbooks.

The flexible format of the books in their library makes them suitable for use with many kinds of assistive technology, including electronic Braille readers and text-to-speech converters. Alternatively the books are easily adapted for reading onscreen in the format you prefer.
