This website provides as step-by-step approach to making the right choice of a care home
Choosing a care home is not easy and often has to be made at a time of crisis. This website aims to provide you with a step-by-step approach to making the right choice of care home for you or your relative. Currently available for Scotland only, it is their intention to extend to the rest of the UK in due course.
Most importantly, this website includes reviews and ratings for care homes and nursing homes written by residents, their carers and relatives. You will read about the direct experience and views of people with first-hand knowledge of the homes.
The first section of the website “Making the Right Choice”, provides advice on how to start the process, any assessments you may need and how to obtain them, how to draw up a short list of homes, what to look out for and questions to ask when you visit, and how to make your final choice.
They have also provided a guide to the legal and financial implications of a move into a care home, and this information can be accessed by clicking on “Funding” and “Legal Issues” on the tabs at the top of the page.
They are completely independent with no vested interests in care homes or care providers.
