Borders Independent Advocacy Service (BIAS)

Provides a free, confidential advocacy service to people in the Scottish Borders

Aims:

Provides a free and confidential advocacy service to isolated, vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals in the community who are struggling to be heard.

Services provided:

Specialist advocacy for people with mental health problems, community care issues, learning disabilities and older people, particularly where statutory powers are being considered.
BIAS will:

  • Listen and ensure that other people listen
  • Help each individual to access the information needed so they can make an informed decision
  • Support them to attend or take part in important meetings and to have their say
  • Try to safeguard the person’s rights.

opening hours:

Core hours are Monday – Friday, 10.00am – 4.00pm.
