Independence at Home

Provides grants to people of all ages who have a physical or learning disability or long term illness and who are in financial need

Purpose

Independence at Home is a charity that provides grants to people of all ages who have a physical or learning disability or long term illness and who are in financial need.

This financial help enables them to obtain mobility and disability equipment, home adaptations and other essential items to make an immediate, practical and positive effect on daily life at home.

A grant could be towards

  • A powered wheelchair, improving mobility in and around the home and in the local community
  • A riser-recliner chair, to be able to sit comfortably and go from sitting to standing more easily
  • A wet room, to be able to have a shower independently and safely

Independence at Home’s grants vary between £200 and £500 and depend on the item of equipment purchased or building work carried out. The average grant is £300. You can download a copy of our brochure with case histories of some of the people that we have supported.

please note the following:

  • Grants are not made to people living in residential care
  • No grants to organisations or to groups of people
  • No grants for medical treatment
  • No grants for debt relief or arrears
  • No grants for telephone rental or call charges
  • No grants for televisions or licences
