The aim of the service is to help people across the UK who are dealing with the death of a relative with benefits and pensions advice. The service collects all the information that the DWP needs to know about the person who has died, carries out a quick eligibility check to find out what benefits the surviving relative might be entitled to and takes claims for bereavement benefits and Social Fund Funeral Payments over the phone.
