Aims:
SANE is a national mental health charity which aims to raise awareness of mental illness and campaign to improve services, initiate and fund research into the causes of serious mental illness through its research centre, and provide information and support to those experiencing mental health problems through its helpline, SANEline and Textcare service.
Services provided:
National out of hours helpline, SANEline, which provides emotional support and information for people with mental health problems and those who support them. All calls are answered by supervised volunteers who undertake a training programme. They can provide information on illnesses and symptoms, local and national mental health services, medication, treatments and therapies. There is also a Textcare service provided.
Opening hours:
The helpline can be accessed 365 days a year, from 4.00pm – 10.00pm.
