Local disability information and advice service

Aims:

  • Specific issues to bring down barriers which prevents full participation in the social, political and economical life of people with a disability
  • To support people in achieving control over their lives and having a say over what happens to them.

 
services provided:

  • Information and advice on all aspects of disability relevant to any issues disabled people may have
  • Telephone help-line
  • Outreach information service
  • Set up and maintain outreach centres
  • Disability awareness training for the community
  • Support to Start-up and Voluntary projects
  • Information distribution
  • Representation on other agencies relating to disability issues
  • Campaigning on specific issues
  • Provide access audits
  • Delivering disability equality training to statutory organisations and other agencies with a team of trained volunteers
  • Home visits can be arranged.
