Listening Books

For some people who have a disability, reading or holding printed books can be difficult. Audiobooks are therefore a great way to be able to continue enjoying books, relax and relieve stress, without the difficulty of concentrating, or holding up a book for long periods.

Listening Books is a national UK charity offering a postal and online audiobook library service for anyone with a print impairment, due to an illness, disability, learning difficulty or mental health condition. They currently have free memberships available for people who would find it difficult to cover their normal membership fees of between £20 and £45 per year.

Their library has over 7,500 titles including bestselling authors such as J. K. Rowling, Lee Child, Marian Keyes, Matt Haig, George R. R. Martin, Terry Pratchett, and many more. Audiobooks are available to download through an app available for most tablets and smartphones, to stream online, or sent direct through the letterbox on MP3 CD with no postage costs or late fees.

For more information on how to become a member, please visit the Listening Books website or contact Claire Gosden at cgosden@listening-books.org.uk, or by calling 020 7407 9417.
