Looking forward to 2017
2017 is upon us and we are very much looking forward to the New Year and the challenges this will bring. If it’s anything like 2016 then I know we’ll have a year to enjoy.
2016 saw us introduce our new name and branding. This brought a fresh look and feel to the organisation, allowing our name to more accurately reflect the services that we provide.
To support this change we launched our new and improved website at The Gathering. A cleaner, more accessible website that makes searching for information much easier. We also made big changes to our Scottish Disability Directory. Searching for organisations that support disabled people from around Scotland has been made easier.
Empowering disabled people through providing accurate, relevant and accessible information and signposting has always been at the heart of what we do. Our helpline continues to see a rise in the number of callers and our new website has delivered on the promise of getting our information out to those who need it. We always look to improve and over the next few months we will be working hard to bring in more changes to improve the accessibility of our website.
One of the most enjoyable aspects of 2016 were the many opportunities to get out and about, meeting people and other organisations. We took our Information Stall to numerous events including the Glasgow Disability Alliance Learning Festival, Kidz to Adultz, Independent Living and Ability Fest. We were on hand to help with queries from visitors and raise awareness of the other organisations who provide advice and support to disabled people, their families and professionals across Scotland.
With new information guides, a new FAQ section and more organisations signing up to the Scottish Disability Directory, we look forward to building on the good work of 2016 throughout the coming year.
